Dave

Hi, I’m Dave.

I’m a native Pole and I teach Polish to foreigners. I wrote this book the way I wish someone had explained English to me: one small step a day, plain words, and lots of practice. When you finish, come and practice with other learners in my community, Polish with Dave.

Questions

Is this for complete beginners?

Yes. Day 1 starts with how to read Polish letters and sounds. By day 30 you can order food, ask for directions, talk about your family, your plans and your past, and handle a visit to the doctor or a shop.

How do I read the pronunciation?

Every Polish word has a respelling in English letters, with the stressed syllable in capitals: dziękuję = jen-KOO-yeh. You read it like English and you are close to how a Pole says it. The first pages show you how it works.

Is there audio?

No, this is a PDF book. It is built so that you never need to guess how a word sounds: the respelling is right next to every word and sentence.

How do I get the book?

Right after payment you get an email with the download link. It is a PDF you can read on any device or print.

What does it cost?

49 zł (Polish złoty), about €11 or $13. You pay once; your card or bank converts the currency.
